Worshipful Brother Hans Gunnar Sahling |
Welcome Address by The Worshipful Master Dear Visitor, As Worshipful Master let me welcome you to the website of the only English speaking Lodge within the Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free & Accepted Masons within Germany (Großloge A.F.u.A.M.v.D). If you are not yet a Mason let me explain that Freemasonry comprises a world-wide society of five million men concerned with moral and spiritual values. Its members are taught its precepts (moral lessons and self‑knowledge) by a series of ritual dramas - a progression of ceremonies which follow ancient forms and use stonemasons’ customs and tools to help demonstrate its teachings. Freemasonry instils on its members a moral and ethical approach to life founded on the principles of brotherly love, relief and truth: it seeks to reinforce thoughtfulness for others, kindness in the community, honesty in business, courtesy in society and fairness in all things. Members are urged to regard the interests of the family as paramount but, importantly, Freemasonry also teaches and practices concern for people, care for the less fortunate and help for those in need. With English being so widely spoken and understood throughout the world, by adopting its use within our Lodge we strive to break down the barriers of language and culture and to unite Masons of all nationalities. I would emphasise that we do not demand or expect fluency in English in our members, although a basic understanding and ability to communicate will of course be an advantage. If you are already a Mason then why not come along and join us. If not, but would now like to find out more about what we do, or how you might be able to join, then please do not hesitate to contact us. Why not take that first step today – it might change your life forever. We look forward to hearing from you. Hans Gunnar Sahling August 2011 |
